This is how most people normally know me: as "that TV news lady." Now, I want you to get to know the real me!
I can't believe I'm finally doing this.
I mean, I've been meaning to start this for months. Years, even. I'm obsessed with blogs by other people and look forward to new posts from my favorite influencers. I even started saving up ideas in my iPhone just in case I finally worked up the nerve to start this.
So here we are. Hello! Okay here's the real deal: I can be super professional in my TV news job, but on here, I just want to be me. I want to share all the interesting things I'm learning by being surrounded by creative, smart and driven people. But I also want to share the makeup tips I've learned (HD TV is no joke for wrinkles, ugh) and health advice and how I'm barely but sorta managing my OCD in a house with 3 dogs, 3 teenagers, 3 adults and a baby! It's the best life but it's a crazy life and I'm glad you're joining me on this blogging adventure :)
You see that? That is my one year old daughter, Jocelyn (giving me all the sass) and my police officer husband, Daniel (totally ignoring me on a work call). I dragged them 5 hours each way out of Austin to West Texas for a story on a new liquor company I did for TV. It was on my day off, my daughter cried the entire way there, I shot video using a DSLR camera I barely knew how to use (but turned out AWESOME thank God -- click here to see!) and my saint of a husband drove the whole way there and back without a single complaint. While I was shooting, my daughter was fussing in the background...it made for great nat sound *insert eye roll* BUT man, this is just a snapshot of my life these days.
So in my search for balance, a friend recommended a book called "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin (I downloaded it for free on Audible) and in it, she says to "tackle a nagging task."
Well, here's me tackling my nagging task, and you know what? Even if nobody reads this, I'm already feeling better.
(I should note this is the only family photo we got that day. I hadn't showered and Joss was trying to eat some rocks but you know what? I love it. Real life is so much more fun than the perfect posts you see on Facebook, don't you agree??)
